Freedom

Happy Memorial Day!  I'd like to just take a minute to thank all of those who have fought for our country in the past or currently serve our country now.  Your sacrifices made this country what it is and lets us enjoy our freedoms today.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

For today's card I created the buildings with the Frantic Stamper Cityscape die.  The Freedom is a word die also from Frantic Stamper that I die cut with red glitter paper.  For the sky I used a fun die called Reverse Cut Fireworks.  This is such a cool die (but I had a hard time capturing the full effect.)

Here's a closeup of how this die cuts.  For the yellow fireworks I put the stars on top of the card base.  For the green & pink fireworks, I put the glitter paper behind the die cut.

From this angle you can see how the colorful, glittery paper peaks out from behind those little fireworks dot trails.  That is such a fun effect!

And one more look of the entire card.

Thank you for joining me today!  Happy Memorial Day!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #409

Welcome to the next Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #409!  This week the challenge is to use the provided color scheme (shown at the end of this post) on your card or project.  Our sponsor this week and the prize is from the Cupcake Inspirations blog.  All of the details, including prize information, can be found on the Cupcakes Inspiration blog.  I hope you'll play along!

CIC409 Jen Carter

For today's card I wanted to go with a nice, bright card using the color scheme.  I do admit that I threw in a couple of colors that are a shade darker than the color scheme to give it a little extra pop that it needed. I started by diecutting that large label from Catherine Pooler's Lovely Flowers & Banners dies.  The flowers are also diecut from that set.  I stamped the flowers with the coordinating Lovely Flowers Stamp set, also from Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval collection.  The real magic though is the ink.  Have you tried Catherine's new ink collection?  Oh my word!  I am in love with it!  Seriously some of my favorite inks ever...so bright, so vibrant and you know how I love color!  And it's dye ink so it dries quickly!  The sentiment is a combination of Catherine's Lovely Flowers Stamp set & the Fill in the Blank Happy Birthday stamp set.

For the background, I die cut Lil' Inker Designs Cover Up Die: Diamond Lace and then backed it with pink cardstock.

Here is the challenge color scheme.  You can use the photo for inspiration but you don't have to, as long as you use the provided color scheme. I hope you'll join us this week for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #409!  Thanks for stopping by!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #407

Happy Mother's Day!  Welcome to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #407!  This week the challenge is to use a mom theme on your card.  All of the details, including prize information, can be found on the Cupcakes Inspiration blog.  I hope you'll be able to play along!  This week our sponsor is Poppy Stamps.

Jen Carter Super Mom Front

For this card I started by making the background panels with different patterned papers.  I then put a piece of vellum on top of them to soften them up a bit.  I die cut the Simply Super Shield die from Frantic Stamper.  I also die cut the burst image from the Superhero Outlines Dies in gray patterned paper and then stamped Super Mom using the Super Sayings stamp set and the Superheroes Stamp set.

The theme this week is "For Mom".  You can choose to use the cupcake graphic for inspiration if you'd like but you don't have to, as long as your card or project fits the theme.

I hope you'll join us this week for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #407!  Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers

Frantic Stamper's latest release has a "life moments" release which includes dies & stamps with happy birthday, celebrations, party & get well themes.

Jen Carter Grid Modern Cheers 1

My favorite die from this new release is this Modern Cheers die.  It is one that I asked for and Kathy was able to make it work.  I LOVE the font!  This card was so simple to put together.  I first stamped that grid on the background.  That is from a new series of red rubber background stamps from Frantic stamper called Small Grid.  I then used the Modern Cheers die and die cut out the cheers and then pieced in the different colors of letters.  I love how it looks!  Lastly, I added the strips of colored cardstock to match.

Thanks for joining me today!

To a Special Woman

Last week I shared sneak peeks of some cards I had over on the Lil' Inker Designs blog for Flashback Friday.  Today I wanted to share the full cards with you.

To celebrate, our flashback items featured will also be ON SALE for a limited time!

These three cards feature Doodled Daisies StampsDoodled Daisies DiesVintage Label Sentiment StampsVintage Label Die & the Mom Word Die.

First up is this card with a focus on mom since Mother's Day is right around the corner.  I created my background by using several of the stamps in the Doodled Daisies stamp set.  The style of the flowers are very on trend with all of the adult coloring books that you see everywhere!  I then die cut a white label with the Vintage Label Die and stamped the sentiment from the Vintage Label Sentiment stamp set.  I watercolored some paper with Zig Real Brush markers and then used the Mom Word Die to cut the large Mom focal point.

Tip: Because "mom" was going to hang over the edge of the label, I die cut some thicker watercolor paper with the Mom Word Die and attached them together to provide support.

For this second card, I used the same Doodled Daisies Stamps as I did in the first card but with a totally different look.  I created a pattern using the daisies and as I finished each flower I embossed them in white.  This helped me to see where to stamp next.  After that was completely done, I used some cheap watercolor cake paints to color in the images.  Next, I die cut the label from vellum with the Vintage Label Die and embossed the images and sentiment onto it.  I added some flowers in the corners, die cut with the coordinating Doodled Daisies Dies.

For my last card I wanted to try something a little different with these sets.  I started by placing my Doodled Daisies Dies on my card front that I had die cut a border using the Dual Dotted Rectangles Dies.  I then ran them through the die cut machine.  Next, I took some watercolor paper and placed it under the die cut cardfront panel so that I could line up my stamps and stamp them through the windows I had created.  I used my Misti to be sure I got them exactly where I wanted them. When that was done, I pulled out my Zig Real Brush markers and colored my images.  When I was done, I popped the cardfront panel up with foam tape and added the sentiments that I had embossed in white from the Vintage Label Sentiment stamp set.

In this photo you can see the dimension a little better.

Here are the featured products used in this post today which are also ON SALE 15% off through May 12th, EST! No code is necessary. Just add these items to your cart and save!
